Frequently asked questions

When will early access be available?

Your organisation’s on-boarding will take place once your application is accepted. The employees within your organisation will be able to start taking the AQ assessments from February 2020.

How long does the assessment take to complete?

Average time to complete the assessment is 20-25 minutes per employee but we’re aiming to reduce that in time for launch.

Do you help with a roll out plan to employees?

Yes, (for Standard and Pioneer clients only), a member of our team will spend time understanding your organisation, resulting in more relevant positioning and communication plan to ensure adoption rate is high.

How do you measure adaptability?

We use an Artificial Intelligence (AI) powered chatbot, named Aida, who has deeply learned our research-backed adaptability model. Aida will guide your employees through a natural conversation in order to accurately create their AQ (Adaptability Quotient) profile.

What happens to the assessment data?

We take data protection very seriously. All assessment data is stored securely in the cloud, in line with current GDPR standards. Individual (employee) data is anonymous to the employer unless the employee agrees to share their profile. For recruiters, profile scores are shared automatically. Will I get a detailed analysis report?

Absolutely, there are two variations of reports depending on your permissions.

Each individual (employee) will receive their own personalised report and be empowered to maintain and improve their AQ with an actionable insight-driven report.

As a ‘Champion’ user, you will have full control over your organisation’s AQ assessment data to provide you with insights at an organisational level, for example, data might reveal that an increase of 10% in resilience will result in an average AQ increase of 30% and a decrease in anxiety of 30% – for which we would then recommend resilience training.

Reports are downloadable and shareable from the dashboard.

How is this different from personality tests?

At Adaptai, our mission is to help leave nobody behind during the fastest pace of change in history. We believe that this starts with self-awareness, understanding, and empowering individuals to nurture their own adaptability to drive career success.

It’s far from a personality test. Where personality tests measure the 20% of our psychological makeup that is biological, innate, and much harder to change; our AQ assessment is a study of mindsets, behaviours and predictors that are learnable and possible to develop.

Furthermore, AQ is vital in the modern climate of accelerating change, it’s fast becoming one of the determining factors in ‘surviving vs thriving’ in the future of work. We’re pioneering research into how our AQ Assessment complements some of the more widely used psychometric tests in the market, deepening your self-knowledge and actionable insights

How did you create and test the assessment?

In collaboration with a Doctoral Researcher at a European Business School, we confirmed that our assessment fulfils the standards of good psychometric measures.

All our current measures showed at least good internal reliability in our first beta 1 assessment and all new measures we select have very good internal reliability shown in earlier scientific studies.

In addition, we ensured our measures are valid by conducting several factor analyses and by cross-comparing qualitative data from the chatbot conversations with existing measures of adaptability.

Finally, we ensured that the predictive model (AQ PredOpt model) used a thorough analytical strategy, so it captures employee adaptability in the real world (and not only in the laboratory).

We used a hierarchical regression model to account for the potential effect/ noise of the context (company, location and etc.) and used bootstrapping techniques to minimize for biases.

What is the difference between the free and paid plans?

Everyone who takes an assessment can access the same report as paid plans but it’s the organisation insight dashboard that is only available on paid plans.

These are upgradeable to gain access at any time for anyone on a free plan.

Do you rank AQ skills and are they fixed for an individual?

The unique aspect of AQ is that it is far from being fixed and always depends on your personal qualities and situation, in short what we refer to as your AQ ACE (Ability, Character and Environment).

Your Character AQ is just as unique as you and cannot be ranked and thus there is no ‘best’ or ‘worst’ type of adaptability personality. Your AQ Character shows you your preferences for change and your unique strengths (and sometimes weaknesses) to adapt most effectively.

On the other hand, your Ability AQ is a measure of your skillset and a learned resource to deal with change effectively. Here we do give you an indication of your ability compared to peers, but this is to help you develop your ability and then to adapt best in line with your unique AQ Character.

As with any skill the AQ Ability is not fixed – but you can learn and develop it. And remember: we never communicate your AQ to anyone without your specific consent, nor do we rank you but only show if your skills are below, within or above average

How credible is AQ as a scale of measurement?

Our dimensions of adaptability are based on our internal research and in-depth interviews with HR and business leaders.

We identified the most important business requirements of adaptability coming from agility, change and the future of work.

We also cross-checked those requirements against findings from hundreds of academic studies to define each dimension and its components. All our measures are grounded on findings from top academic journals to ensure our scales are relevant, reliable and representative of adaptability.

What will be the next step post assessment?

We’re working hard to create a platform for AQ growth through digital coaching to be released in 2021. Growth starts with putting a line in the sand and understanding where you are today in order to improve for the future. We suggest reassessing employee AQ in milestone points that align to your organisation’s strategic goals.

Next steps, post assessment, we’ll provide you with actionable insights for the individual and for the organisation. We then hand the baton over to you to implement these initiatives.

My company is going through significant change. How can AQ analysis help?

Understanding how your employees might respond to change allows you to maximise the chance of success with transformation programmes by mitigating risk by identifying your change heroes and those who need more support.

Will the assessment be optional or mandatory?

This is at your organisation’s discretion and will be dependent on the intended use of analysing AQ data i.e. for recruitment purposes or to understand existing employee scores.

Depending on the intended use, our team will provide custom communication templates to assist roll out; one for optional assessments and one if you would like to make it mandatory.
